My interest in aviation started out a mild little thing that has not only grown to epic proportions, but has spread to include a new generation! From humble beginnings in the parts department of a local repair station, I have been involved in just about incarnation of aviation imaginable. I was manager of aircraft records for an international airline (from inception, what fun that was!!!), and ground dispatcher at a very busy FBO in the Washington, DC area (during the second GW Bush inauguration, crazy fun), and records analyst for a charter operation. If I was asked which was most fun, I’m not sure I could choose.

Today, I am a certified aircraft mechanic, work for a regional airline in maintenance programs, study for my next degree, AND I get to fly a pretty amazing flight simulator system in my home, and while teaching my granddaughter to fly with me! I think it’s safe to say, I love aviation! Even more, I love this system that was custom built just for me! And while it is great for all things flying, it is awesome for day to day work, when I get to work for my job from home! Imagine having three 24″ monitors to work those Excel spreadsheets and Access databases. I can have multiple windows open at the same time, and really makes multi-tasking a breeze! So efficient! Makes it hard to go back to the office and work with a measly two 22″ monitors!

Pretty much any application that I want to run is possible with this system, from any Microsoft Office job to Facebook and my daughter even played that “Warcraft” game, flawlessly, and with amazing graphics, and I’ve done lots of classwork sitting in front of this amazing display. (but mostly, it’s GREAT for flying!)

Maybe when I finish my degree, the next step will be to get my pilot’s license, and I can get some of the required flight hours in on my pc-based simulator.

Thanks,  Kathy G.

KATHY’S COMPUTER, “AMAZING FRED”, VERSION 2.0

Kathy’s original computer “Amazing Fred 1” was build with one main focus in mind – to build the most inexpensive introductory Flight Simulator Computer possible and to be able to start flying right away.  The goal was achieved brilliantly and in the allocated time frame – system was build in one week within 400 dollars budget.   Once more finances became available, it was time to introduce “Amazing Fred 2”. So here is what www.FlightPC.us did for Kathy:

1. First of all, we practically doubled the processor speed (from single 2.2GHz AMD processor to Intel dual-core 3.0GHz CPU, with possibility to overclock it (make it faster) later due to upgraded heat sink and fan. The original standard 4oz heat sink with 60mm fan was replaced with enormous, custom-designed 32oz heat sink with 120mm fan and 16 heat pipes.

2. Next, we doubled the size and speed of RAM memory, from 4096MB of old and slow DDR1 memory to 8192MB of new DDR2 memory in DUAL Mode, which effectively is 16 times faster than DDR1 memory; with possibility to overclock it (make it faster) later, of course.

3. We significantly improve PC’s video processing power; replacing single old nVidia Quadro 256MB card with EVGA nVidia GTX580 1536MB powerhouse of a graphics card which runs Kathy’s three Hi-Definition 1080P 24” monitors beautifully.

4. The old 400 watt power supply was replaced.  Kathy’s PC received not one, but TWO new, server-grade, highly dependable modular power supplies with total peak power of over 1,300 watts.  Main power supply built by famous “PC Power and Cooling” supports the main functions of the system, while second power supply is exclusively for running video cards – which of course gives us more stable power and current for future upgrades.

5. We installed professional grade Gigabyte Premium motherboard with Japanese solid capacitors, High Fidelity 7.1 enhanced surround sound accelerator unit, no less than FOUR network cards, insane ten internal SATA ports and six times more than average of copper on North and South bridges for the best cooling possible. The motherboard supports 3-way SLI (ability to use three video cards as one, for better flying experience).

6. Microsoft Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 got updated from 32-bit to 64-bit.  We kept Microsoft Office 2007 for right now, until the next round of updates, when we are going to get the latest and the greatest.

8. And of course our famous 12-months Maintenance and Repair Service Plan.

9. Total cost of upgrades under 460 dollars.

KATHY’S COMPUTER, “AMAZING FRED”, VERSION 2.5

Once again we significantly improve PC’s video processing power by doubling EVGA nVidia GTX580 1536MB powerhouse of a graphics card which runs Kathy’s three Hi-Definition 1080P 24” monitors beautifully. Two EVGA nVidia GTX580 1536MB  cards are set up in SLI mode and provide the proud owner with unparallel video quality! Way to go Kathy!

  1. Hey, all fans of FlightPC. I got my Hello Kitty–themed PC from these guys and WOW… this thing is an absolute masterpiece. It’s pure power wrapped in cuteness. The liquid cooling keeps it running cool and stable even when I’m pushing it hard in long gaming sessions, and the RGB lighting makes the whole setup look straight-up magical. It’s not just a computer — it’s a statement piece. Super fast, super quiet, insanely pretty. All my friends are jealous. Easily the best PC I’ve ever owned, both in looks and performance. No regrets at all.

  2. FlightPC computers are for VIP. Every detail on my new build is impressive. Clean wiring, cable management perfect, great airflow, efficient liquid cooling, and stunning RGB lighting. My flight sims have never felt smoother, and I can finally crank all the settings to Ultra without worry. Highly recommended for sim enthusiasts.

  3. Hello boy and girls and children of all ages. This FlightPC.net company clearly knows what modern gamers need. The performance is flawless, cooling is quiet and efficient, and the RGB lighting gives the rig a premium feel. It’s rare to find a PC that’s both a monster performer and a visual showpiece on my desk.

  4. The moment I powered this rig up, I knew it was something special — not just another gaming PC, but a true high-end performance machine built for today’s most demanding titles and simulators. At its heart sits a powerhouse processor Intel Core Ultra 9 285K (a 24-core hybrid beast capable of smashing through both gaming and productivity tasks) paired with a top-tier graphics card MSI GeForce RTX 5080 GAMING TRIO OC, which delivers breathtaking frame rates and eye-popping visual fidelity on ultra-max settings — even at 4K with ray tracing and DLSS/AI upscaling enabled. To keep up with that raw horsepower, PC came equipped it with high-speed memory Crucial Pro 64GB DDR5 5600 in dual-channel configuration, ensuring seamless multitasking while heavy simulators, voice comms, and background apps run without a hitch. Storage is insanely fast thanks to blazing-fast PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives: Seagate FireCuda 540 1 TB SSD for system and games, and the Samsung 9100 PRO 2 SSD for additional scratch-disk and ultra-rapid load times — meaning world streaming, texture loading, and level transitions happen almost instantly.
The custom liquid cooling loop keeps the CPU temps rock-steady under long sim sessions, whether I’m in a cockpit, cockpit-view rally stage, or ultrarealistic open world, and the efficiency is borderline ridiculous — whisper-quiet under load and way cooler than a typical AIO solution. And yes, the RGB lighting isn’t just icing on the cake — individually addressable zones let me set ambient themes that sync with game audio or system temps, dialing up immersion in both nighttime sessions and stream setups. This isn’t just a gaming PC — it’s a dream machine not only for sim racers and flight sim pilots, but any gamer who demands ultra-max settings, frame stability, future-proof performance, and storage so fast it feels like the games know what I’m about to do before I do.

  5. This system has been running triple 1440p monitors with excellent stability. Frame pacing is consistent, thermals are well controlled, and the liquid cooling loop performs exactly as intended. No throttling under sustained loads. Clearly assembled and tested by professionals. Looks great!

  6. I recently received my Flight Sim PC and it exceeded expectations. Running three monitors plus VR support feels effortless. The system stays cool and quiet, which is critical during long simulation sessions. It feels like this PC was designed specifically for sim pilots.

  7. FlightPC kicks ass. I ordered from FlightPC.net about two months ago and couldn’t be happier. The custom loop is gorgeous, and my multi-monitor setup runs perfectly.

  8. I received my surround gaming PC last month and it has been an absolute joy to use. Triple-monitor gaming feels incredibly immersive and smooth, even when pushing high graphics settings. The cooling system keeps temperatures low and noise levels nearly nonexistent. This PC feels more like a precision-built instrument than just a computer.

  9. My FlightPC arrived last month and completely changed how I feel about pre-built systems. The custom loop is beautifully done, and the system performs flawlessly across multiple monitors. Everything runs cool, quiet, and stable. It honestly feels better than any PC I’ve built myself.

  10. I’ve had this PC for a while now and my first impression still holds up. Excellent build quality, great thermals, and smooth performance across all three monitors. Reliability was my top concern and this system delivers. Months of use with zero issues. Everything feels solid and well-engineered.

  11. I run surround gaming almost every day and this PC handles it effortlessly. No stutters, no overheating, and no annoying fan noise. It feels purpose-built for this kind of setup.

  12. After four months of heavy use, the system still performs exactly like it did on day one. I regularly run flight simulators in surround mode and use VR several times a week. No thermal issues, no instability, and no performance degradation. This has been a stress-free ownership experience.

  13. I upgraded from an older custom-built PC and the difference is dramatic. Flight sims run smoother across three monitors, and VR performance is far more consistent. Noise levels are lower and thermals are significantly improved. This was a worthwhile upgrade.

  14. Two months and now problems at all. I upgraded from an older Dell XPS desktop and the difference is just crazy. Flight sims run smoother across five monitors, and performance is far more consistent, don’t have VR yet, but will test it soon, once my friend comes over this weekend and bring his over. Noise levels are lower and thermals are significantly improved. This was a fantastic upgrade.

  15. After five weeks of heavy use, I’m very happy with this purchase. I fly almost daily using a VR headset. The system stays cool, stable, and quiet, even during long sessions. Everything feels refined and well-optimized.

  16. I am a fan now! My system arrived earlier than expected and was perfectly configured. Triple-monitor flight sims worked immediately, and performance was smooth right out of the box. It’s clear the system was thoroughly tested before shipping.

  17. Fantastic experience from start to finish. Their team worked with me to select the perfect components for my flight sim needs. The PC is rock-solid and runs everything with zero issues. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you want to feel like you’re actually piloting a plane, this is the place to get your rig.

  18. After owning this system from FlightPC.net for several months and putting it through heavy, real-world use, I can confidently say this is one of the best-built simulation PCs I’ve ever experienced. I primarily use it for flight sims, space sims, and helicopter sims across both triple-monitor surround and VR, and the performance has been exceptionally consistent. Frame pacing is where this system really shines—frame timing is smooth and predictable, with none of the microstutter or frametime spikes that often break immersion in complex simulation environments. Even in dense scenery, heavy weather, or large multiplayer scenarios, frame delivery remains stable, which makes a huge difference during long sessions.

VR performance has been equally impressive. Reprojection behavior is extremely well controlled, with smooth transitions and no noticeable oscillation between frame rates. The system holds steady frametimes that allow VR motion smoothing to work as intended, resulting in a comfortable and convincing experience—especially critical for helicopter sims where low-altitude movement and rapid yaw changes quickly expose performance weaknesses. Space sims benefit from the same stability, with smooth head tracking, consistent GPU utilization, and no sudden frametime spikes during large-scale scenes or combat.

Thermals are clearly a major focus of FlightPC’s custom liquid cooling design. Under sustained load—multi-hour flight legs, extended VR sessions, or long space sim campaigns—CPU and GPU temperatures remain remarkably stable with no thermal creep over time. Fan noise stays low and predictable, and there’s no evidence of thermal throttling even after hours of continuous operation. The cooling loop is not just visually impressive but functionally tuned for sustained simulation workloads rather than short benchmark bursts. Overall system stability has been flawless: no crashes, no clock fluctuations, and no tuning required after delivery. Based on performance consistency, thermal behavior, and build quality alone, I would absolutely buy from FlightPC.net again without hesitation.

  19. ?????
    Stable under long simulation sessions
Verified Buyer – Owned for 4 months
I regularly run multi-hour flight sessions using surround displays and VR. The system has remained stable with no performance drops or overheating. This feels like a workstation-grade build tailored for simulation.

  20. I often fly MSFS for several hours at a time. This PC stays stable and cool the entire session. Everything feels smooth and reliable. No tuning needed out of the box.

  21. After upgrading to a fully custom liquid-cooled system from FlightPC.net, the difference compared to my previous computer is immediately noticeable, especially in demanding flight and space sims like Microsoft Flight Simulator, DCS World, X-Plane, Prepar3D, Elite Dangerous, and Star Wars: Squadrons. My triple-monitor surround setup now runs exactly the way these simulators are meant to be experienced—smooth, stable, and immersive. In DCS specifically, high graphics settings across three displays are no longer a compromise; frame pacing is consistent even during complex missions with heavy AI, detailed terrain, and intensive effects. MSFS benefits tremendously from the increased CPU stability and GPU headroom, with smoother terrain streaming and far fewer stutters on approach into dense airports. Thermals are where this system really shines: the custom liquid-cooling loop keeps both CPU and GPU well below throttling thresholds even during long-haul flights or extended combat sessions, and fan noise remains minimal. Build quality is exceptional, from the clean tubing runs and professional cable management to the overall tuning and stability of the system. This feels like a purpose-built simulation workstation rather than a generic gaming PC, and it has completely transformed how these sims perform and feel compared to my previous setup.

  22. After upgrading to a fully custom liquid-cooled system from FlightPC.net, the performance improvement in DCS World has been immediately noticeable compared to my previous PC. DCS is extremely demanding on both CPU and GPU—especially in large missions with complex avionics, AI units, high-resolution terrain, and VR or multi-monitor rendering—and this system handles it with ease. Frame pacing is smooth even in dense scenarios, CPU clocks remain stable without throttling, and GPU temperatures stay impressively low thanks to the custom liquid cooling loop. Long multiplayer missions and extended sorties no longer introduce heat buildup, stutters, or instability, which was a recurring issue on my old system. The tuning feels deliberate and simulation-focused rather than just “gaming-oriented,” resulting in consistent performance during long sessions where reliability matters most. Overall, this has been a substantial, technically meaningful upgrade, and the system performs exactly how a serious DCS platform should.

  23. This PC is a showstopper. ?? Every friend who sees it asks where I got it. The RGB is vibrant and customizable, and the cooling keeps my CPU icy cold during long gaming sessions.

  24. ?? I’ve never seen RGB look this clean and professional. ??? The lighting syncs beautifully, and the liquid cooling loop is artfully done. Performance-wise, it’s an absolute beast. ??

  25. Hey there, your oil computer project has really caught my imagination. I would love to see a step-by-step video series showing how you designed and assembled the world’s largest oil-cooled system. How do you even move or service something that big? How heavy is it? How much did it cost? Please share as many visuals and explanations as possible, we’re all fascinated!

  64. Hmmm, I’m not sure if I should say this on a public site like this, but you guys are AWESOME! By the way, Kathy do you fly real planes?

  65. I just couldn’t leave your site before suggesting that I extremely enjoyed the standard info an individual provide on your guests? Is going to be again frequently in order to check up on new posts. It is a great site.

  66. Hey Kathy, hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Many thanks
